Wine description:

El Castro de Valtuille _ Godello is a blend of three plots, whose first vintage was made in 2014.

El Barredo plot has clay soil, Villegas is characterised by its sandy soil and El Val, located in a cooler area, has clay and stone soils.

Characteristics of the vintage:

A dry autumn and winter with above-average temperatures gave away to a spring that began with unstable weather and a delay in the budding of the vines.

May began with sunny weather, no rainfall and pleasant temperatures, which rose steadily. The cold returned at the beginning of June, but it did not take long for the heat to return.

Summer arrived with overwhelming heat and endless drought.

Average night-time temperatures were over 25ºC. Despite this, the wines are not hot and the alcohol content is not very high.
We started the harvest on the 26 th of August.

Elaboration:

The grape is collected manually in a single day.

When we reach the winery, after destemming, the must is pressed and remains cold for 24 hours.

After this process, we transfer the must to 225, 500 and 700 liter barrels, in which fermentation takes place and subsequent aging during a natural year.

The barrels are emptied for bottling five days before the next harvest.
